Humans are fallible and even the best of us will make mistakes. In high-risk industries where errors can have devastating outcomes, the need to bridge the gaps is critical. That’s where technology comes in – to effectively minimize the occurrence and consequences of errors.

bria, we have partnered with human and organizational performance experts Fisher Improvement Technologies (FIT) to develop a system known as Advanced Error Reduction in Organizations (AERO). The application of this technology will help your organization:

  • Recognize the triggers that indicate an error trap exists
  • Use the right tool at the right time to reduce error rate up to a factor of 1000
  • Understand how to prevent and mitigate error traps to reduce the probability of undesirable consequences
  • Design procedures for maximum safety, quality, reliability and effectiveness

What others say

As AERO gains traction among those who were in charge of the initial roll-out, you can definitely see and hear the conversations changing in terms of how to handle error-likely situations (respond vs. react) and looking at the entire system rather than isolating errors/violations as strictly attributed to a person.”

Organizational Capability Team Lead, Oil & Gas Business Unit

We deployed AERO early this year. It seemed a little slow to start but since then, it has gained momentum and really taken on a life of its own. We use the AERO tools in our everyday job tasks. AERO has really gotten the crew members involved in the pre-task meetings and has heightened awareness and communication among the crew. The AERO tools and concept are really going strong here, so much so that we have visitors coming to our area to see it in action.”

Lead Well Site Manager, Oil & Gas

The main benefit of AERO is empowering the workforce, especially those engaged in high consequence work, to be able to predict, manage, and prevent error-likely situations in their daily work, which drives us to be a much safer and more efficient organization.”

How We Engage With You

This six- to eight-hour course is designed as a learning experience for senior leaders to understand how changing some key behaviors and applying some new lessons can have a dramatic effect on the company’s potential to reduce errors and events.

This course provides leadership teams with an understanding of the science of human and organizational performance and how to integrate error reduction technology into their organization.

The course includes the following topics:

  • History of human and organizational performance
  • Background of Advanced Error Reduction in Organizations and potential results
  • Guiding Principles and Ethics
  • Essential Leadership Cycle and understanding leader impact on field tasks
  • Science basis description & definitions
  • Performance modes, traps, triggers and tools
  • Tools for understanding and applying the concepts
  • Typical deployment and integration path

After the initial AERO Senior Leadership Engagement Session, participants can assess the suitability and effectiveness of the tools, and determine whether to invest in a longer-term engagement. This is a performance enhancement process designed to fully integrate Advanced Error Reduction in Organizations technology.

The AERO task based system (shown in the graphic on this page) is a core element of our advanced error reduction technology. It is an interdependent system where individuals aware of and managing their personality tendencies interact with people, programs, processes, work environments, organization and equipment.

Advanced Error Reduction in Organizations helps leaders understand that setting people up for success means deliberately managing these task-based systems to protect individuals in the event that they make an error. It also provides the individuals doing the task with the tools to dramatically reduce their individual error rate.

FRS is a customizable performance enhancement process aimed at inculcating proficiency of our core tools such as the E-Colors and Personal Intervention within the organization.

We have found the following three phrases to be critical for organizations to achieve their desired results:

Foundation

Our coaches first lead workshops and engagements with senior leaders and managers, then with the rest of the workforce to ensure a deep understanding of the tools, mental models and practices introduced. Follow-up coaching with senior leaders and managers is recommended to accelerate change in performance.

Realization

Once everyone in the organization has attained high levels of fluency, leaders and teams can begin to realize the potential of applying the tools to overcome organizational challenges, achieve strategic objectives and drive specific business results. Equilibria consultants and coaches work closely with leaders and managers to develop customized performance enhancement processes.

Sustainability

When the organization starts to see the results they desire, we focus on achieving sustainability. This is done through the creation of a Champions Network whereby a number of individuals are identified to form a team to steward the process. These individuals attend a five-day Coach The Trainer workshop to become proficient in the tools and are supported on an ongoing basis by Equilibria coaches.
